Today was a pretty big day with a little over 18 miles. Original plan was to run the Shamrock 15k then re-run the course for a long run day. Know that would be tough and I had some work to do this afternoon I opted to pre-run the course (minus the little .3 mile out and back on Hass Road) and arrived back to the start with 10 to 15 minutes to spare. Somehow it all worked out. Here are some of the splits.
Miles 1-9 | 1:13.03 | Approximately 8:05 pace or somewhere around there and I walked the steep portion of North Hampton. (this was the first loop of pre-running the course).
- Took about 10 minutes to grab a FRS, grab my race packet and pin on my number.
Mile 9 | 6:46
Mile 10 | 7:12
Mile 11 | ?
I hit the 5k mark at right around 21:08
The next mile or two was pretty flat up to North Hampton road. North Hampton kind of started the final five miles. At North Hampton road you have about 5 miles left. It started to go downhill here (the road went up for the next 4) and I was starting to tire and find a rhythm. I struggled through the last 5 miles to roll in at 1:09:20.
Total day 18.3 miles. Time for a large pizza and a cold beverage to wash it down.
Congrats to everyone that ran the Shamrock 15k and Mill Creek Distance Classic today.
