Akron General Sports Medicine Multisport Festival offers something for everyone including triathletes, duathletes, women only events and more

Akron General Sports Medicine announces its first year as the title and official medical sponsor of a fantastic event! The Akron General Sports Medicine Multisport Festival, previously known as the Portage Lakes Triathlon, is a weekend of endurance events that offers something for everyone. Whether you're an experienced endurance athlete, or have always wanted to "tri," this weekend has something for you!

To get the momentum rolling for the Multisport Festival, “A Special Engagement” motivational
and educational talk will be held Wednesday, August 11, at Akron General’s Health & Wellness Center – North, 4300 Allen Road, Stow, at 6:30 p.m. Join Multisport Olympian and Author Sheila Taormina, Triathlete and Photographer Daniel Smith and Sports Medicine Physician Aaron Lear, MD, as they provide insight and motivation to prepare for and participate in Multisport events.

The Multisport Festival will be held at Portage Lakes State Park, 5031 Manchester Road, Akron on September 18 & 19.

September 18 will include “Girls Tri Too – A Women Only Triathlon” – a new series designed for those first-timers wanting to get their feet wet in a non-competitive environment. “Akron Kids' Triathlon & Duathlon” will be available for those ages 7-14 and distances vary by age and event. Also on September 18, “Alan's Elite Race” will challenge all ability levels with a Formula One format.

On Sunday, September 19, the Portage Lakes Triathlon & Duathlon (Sprint & Olympic) will round out the weekend. This race serves as the championship race for the Wheelie Fun Triathlon and Duathlon Series.
