Keen Delany Mid
You might find the Keen Delany Mid on OhioOutside.com, but one place you won’t find it is out on the trail. The urban Delany Mid has a deconstructed, simple style and all the comfort you’d expect from a company that makes athletic footwear and is styled for the city … or small midwest town.
Where you might find the Delany Mid is out on the town or at the office with a casual environment, styled up with a pair of Khakis or a pair of blue jeans the Delany Mid is at home. This is a shoe you would expect to see on the “outdoor” enthusiast when they are stuck in the office and driving around in their SUV.
When fist opening the box I was definitely intrigued. The Delany Mid’s simple style provides more comfort and support then you would expect out of the shoe.
The Upper:
The deconstructed Chukka style upper is made from single layer suede leather with no interior lining, which stays amazingly cool and extremely comfortable. No man made linings to make your feet sweat and then eventually fall apart. Out in the cold, well the they do enough to keep you feet warm while trudging to the office, or strolling around town … but don’t go heading out into the woods in the middle of winter, leave the Keen Wasatch WP for the woods.
The Sole:
The rubber outsole provides added style and traction to the Delany Mid with its unique style. Non-marking, crepe inspired, rubber outsole provides ample traction while on wet floors, snow, ice, etc … anything you can find in the city. The sole also provides a little style wrapping around the tow box of the shoe and at the same time, keeps the front suede from taking to much abuse from desk, curbs, etc.
Foot bed:
Like Most Keen Urban Footwear the Delany mid provides a removable foot bed made of jute (natural fiber), cork and natural latex. The foot bed requires no (zip, zero, nada) break-in time, it is ready to go out of the box, and so comfy.
Features:
- Removable jute, cork and natural latex footbed
- KEEN® signature toe protection
- Non-marking, crepe inspired, rubber outsole
- Deconstructed Chukka style
- Suede upper
Specs:
- Upper: Leather
- Weight: 13.3 oz/379 grams
- Lining: Unlined
- Rubber: Non-Marking
The Delany Mid is definitely an acquired shoe, not fitting into everyone’s style, but if you “sport” the outdoor look while bopping around town on a Saturday night or taking the ladies to dinner, the Delany might be a good fit for you. Over all we were pretty happy with the shoe and had no complaints what so ever. One last note, I would try it on first, size runs true, but it looks a lot different when on your foot. Product Care: (I snagged this from the Keen Web site)
We've carefully selected leather uppers designed to last. Then again, if you're wearing your KEENS daily, they won't always be scuff and dirt-free. To treat day-to-day wear and tear, especially on lighter color leathers, we recommend using a nubuck leather cleaner and conditioner, found at most footwear dealers and/or shoe repair shops.
