Mountain Smith Aspire 30 Pack

Designed for the outdoor enthusiast looking for a reliable pack for the one to three day adventure. Quality built, comfortable fit, everything you could ask for, and it is “green”.

Made from recycled materials, green, and built for the daily grind this new Spire 30 is made from Recycled PET fabric. Recycled PET is a durable, eco-friendly fabric made from post consumer recycled plastic bottles and containers. Using recycled PET is smart – it cuts down on waste and minimizes damage to the environment by conserving oil, energy and non-renewable resources. In the U.S. alone over 45 billion plastic containers end up in landfills every year. More can be learned about PET materials on Mountainsmith.com.

  • 450d Recycled PET main body fabric
  • 840d Recycled PET reinforcements
  • 150d Recycled PET ripstop liner

With just under 1900 cubic inches the Inspire 30 provides just enough room for a long day out or a short weekend trip. The various combinations of uses is endless. Well how big is 1900 cubic inches? One laptop, running clothes (shorts, top and socks), running shoes, flip flops, work clothes, my lunch and a can of Coca Cola will all fit in the Inspire 30 with a little room to spare.
Have a sleeping bag, tent or something that can be hooked on the outside? There is definitely room in the outside and ample attachment points. In addition there are two side mesh pockets for water bottles or anything else you may need in snap. Up front, a mesh sleeve and gear attachment points make for a great place to store your GPS, phone, or energy bar.

Computer Geeks Take Note. On the inside against the internal frame is a small pocket that will hold most laptops, our 15” Mac Book Pro fit in there pretty good. Anything 15” or smaller should not be a problem. These features make the pack perfect for commuting back and forth to the office via bike. The load adjusters keep everything in tact … just don’t squish your PB&J sandwich.

  • Dimensions 24'' x 9' ' x 11'' 61 x 23 x 28 cm
  • Weight 2 lbs 6 oz 1.09 kg
  • Volume 1892 cu. in 31 L
  • Fit Range 15'' - 19'' 38 - 48 cm

The dual density foam waist belt keeps the load low where it should be (although your are not carrying a ton with this pack) and shoulder straps distribute the remaining weight across your shoulders in absolute comfort while the elastic sternum strap keeps things in place creating a pack that can be worn for hours in comfort.

The air mesh back keeps you cool most days (nothing is comfortable when it is 90 out with 90 percent humidity) by circulating air down the back. Two long narrow pads rest against the back, keeping everything else cool.

Since we test packs like this for a four to five month period, it is hard to state how durable it is over the years, but we can say we had no issues in our test period. Hiking, commuting, getting tossed around by the airlines, the Spire 30 holds up like a champ. All packs carry a lifetime warranty on defects and workmanship. So if you drag it across five miles of rocks, or the dog chews it up you might need to talk with the repair department. Grab a scrub brush and some dish soap and it comes out looking like new.

Overall a great pack, only $89.00, which is pretty reasonable for everything that you get. Good functionality, great fit, reliable Mountain Smith quality, what else can you ask for besides someone to carry it.
