Backpack: With great adjustability and two storage compartments, one per side, the Dog Pack focuses on an even weight distribution of the supplies your dog will carry. Built from heavy nylon, durability is of the utmost importance, since your pup will run into everything imaginable on the trail. Sticks, stones, boulders, whatever the case may be, the Dog Pack can handle them. With durability being number one, functionality comes next. Ranging from 610 to 1800 cubic inches in size, the Dog Pack provides just enough room for four to five days on the trail - this will vary depending on dog size and appetite. The bowls, food, bed, and leash are easily stored in the side compartments. The leash and bed can actually be stored on top of the pack with cinch straps, which won't throw th e pack off balance. We all have issues making it over logs, rocks, etc. and you never know when Fido will as well. Which is where the nice little single haul handle comes into play. Not designed to lift the dog, but more to get the weight of the pack off of their back, just enough to make Fido more mobile. Interior pockets are available to store valuables, and contact or emergency information. Keep your car keys with you....don't hold your pup responsible for your way out of the forest.
Food and Water Bowl: Designed from the same durable nylon as the pack with extra webbing around the rim to maintain its shape. You'll also find a loop on the side of each bowl which can used to hang from trees, outside of your pack in bear country, or when the bowl is still wet, it can be hung out to dry. Each bowl holds more than enough food and water for your four-legged friend. The water bowl includes a leak proof lining - which is a necessity, and it makes it easy to tell the difference between the two bowls. The bowls also double as toys for puppies and dogs with more energythan they know what to do with, although we do not suggest this.
Dog Bed: The Mountain Smith fleece lined dog bed is a nice cushion after a long day on hard surfaces. The dog bed is durable, soft, and very easy to carry. Not for everyday use, but perfect for dog trippin. Not sure if it is machine washable or not, but we did anyway, and it is holding up great. Definitely a minimalist bed, but that is all the less weight Fido has to carry, and besides for someone that would sleep in the dirt, on the concrete or anywhere else the fleece-lined bed is welcomed.
Leash: Light, reliable and durable with no frills. Stainless metal snap hook clicks on the collar securely. The metal is strong, and the nylon webbing is secure and can hold the dog safely. Accommodating functions include: variable length adjustment, and elastic cinch when not it use, or tied to the pack. Black in color so it is not the flashiest (not dog bones, or pretty colors here) but a great leash to keep with everything else so when you are ready to pack up, it is there and not searching or forgetting it at home. This is really nice to have and is the finishing touch on the set.
