This race is run exclusively through Hudson Springs park with start and end at Seton Catholic School. The terrain is gravel trail. 5K main event with 1 mile kids run.
Run for the Orphans benefits three Third World orphanages and a local residence for children, Berea Children's Home. Runners can choose where to allocate their funds.
Children of Ubumi, a Hudson based non-profit supports the Ubumi Project Africa, providing care and education for orphans and other vulnerable children in Kitwe, Zambia. The Ubumi Transit Home has been adopted by the City of Hudson as the focus of its global outreach to Third World orphans. It provides temporary care in a home-like setting for orphans and abandoned children until they can be placed with extended family, and permanent care for children who have no one else to care for them.
The Orphan’s Prayer, St. Mary’s international mission project, benefits children with AIDS, or orphaned by AIDS, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. Established in 1995, the orphanage houses 40 children.
The Children’s Home of Hope in Ghana is an orphanage visited last summer by Hudson residents Margaret Susong, Adam Troug, and Liz Lemons. Founded by a young man who was also an orphan, it provides the most basic necessity for children orphaned by AIDS.
For 147 years, Berea Children's Home & Family Services has given hope to children and families in Northeast Ohio through effective and responsive mental health and social service programs. In fiscal year 2008-2009, we served over 11,100 children and families, with 90% of those served having incomes at or below the federal poverty level.
