Loveland Councilman Mark Fitzgerald will be the lead rider for an extraordinary cycling event, to be held on September 19, starting at Nisbet Park.
Close behind him will be a line of tandem bikes, rolling out of Nisbet Park in Loveland, one after another, down the trail to Morrow. Each tandem has a sighted rider on the front, called a captain, and a blind rider on the back, the stoker. It’s the third annual Takes Two to Tandem ride, to raise funds for the American Council of the Blind of Ohio, ACB-Ohio. A $30 registration fee is requested, per rider, and single bikes are also welcome. For another $5, each rider may enter a split the pot poker hand that will be played along the trail to Morrow. Cyclists may choose from a variety of distances, ranging from staying on the flat scenic trail, 13-26 miles, to climbing the challenging hills in the beautiful countryside around Morrow for a total of 55 miles. All riders will meet for a picnic lunch, included in the registration fee.
Funds for this ride will benefit ACB-Ohio, particularly the seminar for parents of blind children, to be held on September 26 in Columbus.
