Pacific Sports and University Hospitals are proud to announce the extension of their existing relationship on the most decorated triathlon in history. University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s (UH Rainbow) will become the official charity for the Cleveland Triathlon, and the event’s participants, sponsors, and stakeholders will actively be involved in fundraising for UH Rainbow. Volunteer and community support will also be a component of the relationship, as will the new finish line festival located at Voinovich Park in North Coast Harbor.
UH Rainbow offers the most expansive pediatric care network in Northeast Ohio, with more than 740,000 annual patient encounters at 131 service locations. The vast network includes nationally-ranked UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital — Cleveland’s only full-service, freestanding children’s hospital with a medical staff of more than 745 physicians and Northern Ohio’s only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center – along with a primary care network of more than 200 pediatric and family medicine providers at 83 offices, inpatient care, pediatric emergency services, urgent care centers, surgery centers, medical and surgical specialty clinics, and advanced newborn and maternal/fetal medicine services.
“Support from the Cleveland Triathlon and Pacific Sports will help expand University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s exceptional care through innovative programs and services in our community and beyond,” says Patti DePompei, RN, MSN, president, UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s and UH MacDonald Women’s hospitals. “On behalf of the babies, children and young adults we are privileged to care for, thank you for choosing our organization as the event’s official charity.”
Cleveland Triathlon Race Director Jack Caress expanded on the scope of this new relationship, “We are honored to announce University Hospitals Rainbow Babies & Children’s as our Official Charity. To be partnering with such a prestigious organization and to develop and implement fundraising for such an incredible and worthwhile charity is great for our event. It also great for the Cleveland community and extends our long history of fundraising with our events nationwide. We could not be happier about expanding our relationship with University Hospitals.”
Pacific Sports has long history of cause relationships and with charitable organizations. The Foundation for Letters in Brooklyn, UC Irvine Crew program in Newport Beach, and most recently raised well over $1 million dollars with United Cerebral Palsy of Greater Cleveland. In addition, Pacific Sports supports and serves on the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Sports Council and the Southern California Committee for the Olympic Games.
