Today GoPro launched their Hero 8 Black camera that includes a range of upgrades in an effort to make it superior to the Hero 7 plus some hardware add-ons that will make shooting a entire video, not just action, a lot easier.
When it comes to video, Hypersmooth 2.0 seems to be the big selling point. This takes the gimbal-like Hypersmooth tech from the Hero 7 and apparently improves it. This should be a big selling point for the mountain bikers and runners who want smooth footage through over all types or terrain and adventures. Hypersmooth 2.0 can now also be used across all framerates and at all speeds. Imagine supersmooth 4k.
Also new, TimeWarp 2.0 features automatic rate adjustment and tap-control speed ramping. HERO8 Black sports four digital lenses to easily select a field of view, improved audio with enhanced wind suppression, customizable mode presets and a lighter, frameless design featuring folding mounting fingers.
The Hero 8 will cost $399, is available to order today and will start shipping on October 15th. The Hero 7 Black now costs $299, the Hero 7 Silver will round out GoPro’s lineup at $199, while the Hero 7 White is being discontinued.
