Nike Offer New In-App Yoga Workouts For People on the Go

New workouts led by Sandra Riley Tang and Krissy Jones cater to yoga fans of all levels, and also work as a complement to activities like running or training.

Nike is unleashing your yoga workout from the studio with a new series of workouts for the Nike+ Training Club (NTC) app. Sandra Riley Tang, an instructor from Singapore, joins New York-based Krissy Jones to lead the new yoga flows.

The routines run the gamut from 15 to 45 minutes, and are designed to be taken along with you to use whenever you feel a spontaneous urge to hit a few warrior poses. The goal is to make people better athletes.

Just like with other NTC app programs, each yoga workout falls in one of three pillars:

  • endurance • flows that help you build stamina.
  • strength • typically involving flows that hold poses longer to increase muscle strength.
  • mobility • restorative sessions that aim to release tension and help you recharge mentally.

These new workouts are really powerful because they offer the chance to practice no matter what your goal is or where you are on your yoga journey. Users can select a beginner or advanced routine – scorpion pose, anyone? – or as a complement to another activity such as running or training. Say you run, what’s great to do after a run? Maybe 15 minutes of yoga to create a little more flexibility within your body and reset your mind.

By offering a range of shorter-session lengths makes finding space for yoga more approachable. By making shorter sessions, it is about just doing yoga on what would otherwise be an off day, but actually making yoga a regular part of your routine.

Four new yoga workouts became available June 28, with another 10 rolling out between July and September.
