Kick off your 2020 riding season with the 6th annual Road Apple Roubaix! This is an opportunity to tour some of the quiet, less-traveled back roads out in Amish country, some gravel roads and the gravel on Headwater’s Trail…JUST BEWARE OF THE ROAD APPLES! There are three route options – Routes are approximately 15, 25 or 45 miles. The 25/45 mile options both include “Heckle-Hill” and several gravel segments.
The 15 mile route is a beginner-friendly, flat route mainly on the Headwater’s trail. For 2020, the long route is a little longer (now 45 miles) and includes one more fun climb up Swine Creek road. 2019 was the first year we offered timing and for 2020, we will have now have timing via chips which should make life easier for our timers when the packs roll in!!! Be aware, results are for bragging purposes only as there are not awards.
This is for cyclists of all kinds and performance levels (no license required) that want to start their season with a real challenge and experience the scenery of Amish country while avoiding the steaming road apples. The route will encompass the Portage County Park District’s Headwater’s trail and some quiet Portage & Geauga County roads.
What else is included?* Course maps and marked course with aid station along the route* The very coveted custom Road Apple Roubaix pint glass & event t-shirt will be included in your entry fee (register early to guarantee yours … limited to first 250 registered.)* Post-race free chili and 1 complimentary drink* All entries will receive one free ticket to the raffle held at 2PM. Additional raffle tickets can be purchased as well! Raffle proceeds will be donated to selected charity(s).
