USA Triathlon Partners with CBD Company! USA Triathlon today became the first U.S. National Governing Body in the Olympic and Paralympic Movement to formalize a partnership with a CBD (cannabidiol) manufacturer, aligning with Pure Spectrum CBD through 2023.
Pure Spectrum, based in Evergreen, Colorado, is at the forefront of CBD’s burgeoning presence in the sports industry. It became the first cannabis company to partner with a major sports organization following its sponsorship of the 2018 Reebok CrossFit Games. Pure Spectrum also sponsors more than 100 professional athletes including Australian UFC fighter Megan Anderson and six-time Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) World Champion Hunter McIntyre. The announcement that USA Triathlon Partners with CBD Company should not be that big of news.

“With its athlete-first approach and proven commitment to safety, quality and accuracy, Pure Spectrum is a clear leader in the growing CBD industry,” said Rocky Harris, Chief Executive Officer at USA Triathlon. “We are partnering with Pure Spectrum to help educate triathletes of all levels about CBD and to provide a fully vetted CBD option.”
Why USA Triathlon Partners with CBD Company
Harris said USA Triathlon selected Pure Spectrum because its products are made from industrial hemp containing no THC. “They apply strict third-party testing protocols to assure the products are pure,” he said, adding, “They are completely transparent by posting batch-specific test results for every product they sell. They also control the entire supply chain to ensure every stage of the process is standardized, controlled and evaluated from the time the seed is planted in their family farms until the package is delivered to a customer.”
“As athletes ourselves, we understand the incredible stress competitive sports puts on the body, which is why we’re proud to partner with USA Triathlon to bring the benefits of CBD to the most elite athletes competing today,” said Brady Bell, CEO and Founder of Pure Spectrum. “We want to provide athletes with an option that they can have the utmost confidence in. Pure Spectrum goes through extensive and rigorous testing to ensure all products are 100 percent free of THC or any banned substance.”
“CBD is my not-so-secret weapon,” said Hunter McIntyre, who also competes in triathlons and the 2019 CrossFit Games. “With Pure Spectrum in my corner, I know I can train harder and run faster — and that my recovery time is going to keep me on my training schedule.”
Pure Spectrum’s products are derived from organically cultivated hemp. The company’s vertical integration is unmatched within the industry, as Pure Spectrum fully controls its own production process from soil to oil — starting with sustainable growing practices on the largest phytocannabinoid farm in the nation.
All Pure Spectrum products undergo batch-specific testing in multiple third-party labs to verify their contents and potencies are exactly as listed on the label, and to ensure they contain no THC. The company is a leader in transparency, publishing complete test results from Botanacor — the nation’s leading Industrial Hemp and CBD testing laboratory — for all products online.
Found naturally in the cannabis plant, CBD is a non-psychoactive substance. Unlike THC, which is also found in cannabis, CBD does not produce a high for users. The United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) allow the use of CBD both in and out of competition.
Education of athletes, coaches and the entire triathlon community will be a critical component of the partnership, incorporating a comprehensive CBD FAQ section and free webinar hosted on usatriathlon.org. The webinar will feature a general overview of CBD as well as specific information about how endurance athletes can safely and effectively use the products.
Other digital and print educational content will be published by USA Triathlon and Pure Spectrum throughout the course of the partnership. Also, expert representatives, including scientists and physicians, will speak at select conference and events. Pure Spectrum will also provide member-exclusive discounts.
CBD’s presence in the sports industry is growing, as CBD manufacturers in recent years have sponsored professional triathletes; golfers; motorcycle racers; Los Angeles Marathon; Nautica Malibu Triathlon; North American Premier Basketball League; Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC); and Hope CBD Stadium, home of Scottish Premiership football club Hamilton Academical.
